British Columbia and Manitoba Hold Immigration Draws, Alberta Updates Processing Times

This week, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) and Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) held important immigration draws. At the same time, Alberta's Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) shared updates on how they are processing their immigration applications.

Provincial Immigration Draws: British Columbia and Manitoba

Both British Columbia and Manitoba invited candidates based on their work experience, education, and involvement in specific recruitment initiatives.

British Columbia

On October 2, British Columbia held two separate draws:

  1. General Draw: 81 candidates were invited across several immigration streams. Here’s the breakdown:
    • Skilled Worker: Minimum score of 128
    • International Graduate: Minimum score of 128
    • Entry Level & Semi-Skilled: Minimum score of 110
  2. In-Demand Sectors: Invitations were also sent to candidates working in high-demand jobs. The details are as follows:
    • Childcare: 35 invitations, minimum score of 83
    • Construction: 23 invitations, minimum score of 89
    • Healthcare: 28 invitations, minimum score of 99
    • Veterinary Care: Fewer than 5 invitations, minimum score of 80

Manitoba

On September 27, Manitoba held two immigration draws:

  1. International Education Stream: 269 invitations were sent to applicants in this category.
  2. Skilled Worker Overseas Stream: 79 candidates were invited through the "Strategic Recruitment Initiative" with a required score of at least 582.

Out of the total 348 candidates invited, 56 had a valid Express Entry profile and a job seeker validation code.

Alberta Immigration Program Updates

Alberta provided updates on the number of immigration nominations issued and the remaining spots for 2024. They also gave insights into which streams are being processed and their current status. Notably, Alberta is focusing on applications from candidates whose work permits expire in 2024 under a temporary public policy, allowing for potential work permit extensions.

Here’s a snapshot of the processing details from the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP):

  • 2024 Nominations Issued: 8,023
  • Remaining Nomination Spaces: 1,727
  • Applications in Process: 4,440

Key Streams:

  1. Alberta Express Entry Stream:
    • Accelerated Tech Pathway: Processing applications submitted on or before March 18, 2024, with 966 nominations issued.
    • Dedicated Healthcare Pathway: Processing applications submitted on or before September 9, 2024, with 428 nominations issued.
  2. Alberta Opportunity Stream: Processing applications received by January 11, 2024, with 4,366 nominations already issued.
  3. Rural Renewal Stream: Processing applications submitted on or before March 6, 2024, with 1,514 nominations issued.

These updates highlight the opportunities and timelines for candidates applying through Alberta’s various immigration streams.
