British Columbia and Manitoba recently extended invitations
to candidates through their respective Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs).
Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) are designed to help
provinces select individuals who can contribute to their local labor markets.
It's important to note that each province uses a unique scoring system to
assess candidates, so scores are not directly comparable between programs.
British Columbia PNP Draw
On November 20, British Columbia held a category-based PNP
draw targeting specific industries through the Skilled Worker and International
Graduate streams, including the Express Entry BC (EEBC) option. A total of 16
Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were issued across the following categories:
Candidates in British Columbia have the option to apply
directly to the BC PNP or link their application to their Express Entry profile
using the EEBC stream. The EEBC stream allows eligible applicants to enjoy
faster processing of their nomination and, if successful, their permanent
residence application.
Manitoba PNP Draw
On November 8, Manitoba held three separate draws under the
Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), inviting a total of 274 candidates.
The first draw targeted skilled workers in Manitoba in a
specific occupation: restaurant and food service managers (NOC 60030). A
total of 41 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) were issued, with a minimum
cutoff score of 672.
The second draw was under the International Education
stream, where 188 LAAs were issued.
The final draw was for the Skilled Worker Overseas
stream, where 45 candidates were invited under a strategic recruitment
initiative. These candidates needed a minimum score of 703 to be selected.
About PNP Programs
PNPs are economic immigration programs aimed at selecting
candidates who possess the skills and experience needed to fill gaps in
provincial labor markets. Launched in 1998, PNPs were created to distribute the
benefits of immigration across Canada, allowing provinces and territories to
nominate individuals interested in settling in a particular region.
Currently, there are over 90 provincial immigration
streams, offering diverse pathways for individuals based on their skills and
needs.
