CELPIP Test Now Accepted for Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) Applications
If you are an international student in Canada planning to
apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), there is an important update.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) now accepts the CELPIP
Test as proof of language proficiency for PGWP applications.
You can now use your CELPIP results when applying
for this work permit, giving you more flexibility in choosing a language test
that fits your needs.
What is the Post-Graduation Work Permit?
The Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) allows
eligible international students who have completed a program at a designated
learning institution (DLI) in Canada to gain valuable Canadian work
experience. This experience can also support your future application for
permanent residency.
To qualify for the PGWP, you must:
- Complete
a study program at an eligible institution
- Maintain
full-time student status during your studies
- Apply
for the PGWP within 180 days of receiving your completion letter or
transcript

How Long are CELPIP Scores Valid?
If you plan to use CELPIP scores for your PGWP or for other
applications such as permanent residency, Express Entry, or Canadian
citizenship, please note that CELPIP scores are valid for two years from
