PEI's Immigration Allocation for 2025

For 2025, PEI received 1,025 total nomination spaces, a significant drop compared to previous years. As of now, the province has issued 569 invitations across all draws conducted this year—all of which have been under the Labour Market and Express Entry categories.

Priority Occupations in PEI for 2025

Due to limited nomination spots, the PEI Office of Immigration is giving priority to candidates working in high-demand fields, specifically:

  • Healthcare
  • Trades
  • Manufacturing

Note
: Individuals working in sales and service roles may not be eligible for an invitation at this time.

Understanding the PEI Labour Impact Category

The Labour Impact Category provides a clear pathway to permanent residence for foreign workers who have a valid job offer in PEI. It includes three key streams:

  1. Skilled Worker Stream
  2. Critical Worker Stream
  3. International Graduate Stream

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify under this category, candidates must:

  • Be between 21 and 59 years old
  • Have sufficient settlement funds
  • Meet a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 4
  • Hold a full-time, permanent job offer from an eligible PEI employer

What Is an Expression of Interest (EOI)?

Submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI) is the first step. It is not a full application but a way to express interest in immigrating to PEI.

Candidates selected from the EOI pool receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for nomination. Once nominated, they are awarded 600 additional points in the federal Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). This significantly boosts their chances of receiving an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residency.

Final Thoughts

Prince Edward Island remains committed to supporting its labour market through targeted immigration. With a strong focus on healthcare, trades, and manufacturing, the province continues to provide great opportunities for skilled foreign workers ready to build a future in Canada.
