This marks the second draw of the year under the Tourism and Hospitality Stream, and the second general draw under the Alberta Opportunity Stream in 2025.

About the Tourism and Hospitality Stream

Introduced in 2024, the Tourism and Hospitality Stream was designed to support Alberta businesses facing labour shortages in this sector.

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Have at least six months of work experience in Alberta in a tourism or hospitality business,
  • Hold a valid, full-time job offer from an approved Alberta employer,
  • Meet the program’s education and language requirements.

About the Alberta Opportunity Stream

The Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS) is one of the province’s most popular immigration pathways. In 2025, the AOS has held two draws so far, previously targeting professionals in fields such as aviation and construction.

Alberta’s 2025 Nomination Quota and Status

Alberta received 4,875 total nomination spaces for 2025. As of now, 2,077 nominations have already been issued.

The AAIP provides regular updates on its website about each stream, including:

What Happens After an Invitation?

Candidates who receive an invitation to apply for nomination through AAIP can submit a full application for provincial nomination. If approved, they receive a Provincial Nomination Certificate, which significantly increases their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residency through the federal immigration system.

These draws show Alberta’s continued efforts to attract skilled workers in key industries and support the province’s labour market needs.
