Brandon, Manitoba Announces Designated Employers for Rural Immigration Pathway

The city of Brandon, Manitoba has released a new list of designated employers for its Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP), offering a pathway to permanent residence for eligible foreign workers.

Brandon is Manitoba’s second-largest city. Under the RCIP, the designated community area includes Brandon and surrounding regions within a 25-kilometre radius, such as Brandon Hills, Chater, Cornwallis, and Riverdale.

What is the Brandon RCIP?

The Brandon RCIP is an employer-driven immigration program designed to help rural communities attract and retain skilled foreign workers. It allows eligible foreign nationals who receive job offers from approved local employers to apply for Canadian permanent residence.

List of Designated Employers in Brandon

Foreign nationals with job offers from the following designated employers may qualify under the RCIP:

  • Brandon Clinic
  • Gateway Mechanical Services Inc.
  • Glendale Industries Limited
  • Keller Developments
  • Koch Fertilizer Canada ULC
  • Kumon Brandon
  • Maple Leaf Foods
  • Modular Industrial Structures Brandon (MISB)
  • Prairie Mountain Health
  • Saputo Dairy Products Canada G.P.
  • The Wellness Clinic
  • Walsh Construction

Important Notes:

  • Brandon Clinic is hiring family physicians and specialist physicians. Applicants must be licensed in Canada or working towards licensure.
  • Prairie Mountain Health is approved only for its Brandon location. Applicants must already work for PMH or be licensed in Canada.
  • The Wellness Clinic is hiring for roles in family and associated health services, requiring Canadian licensure or a licensure pathway.

The list of designated employers may be updated in the future.

Who Can Apply for Brandon RCIP?

To qualify for the Brandon RCIP, candidates must:

  • Have a job offer from a designated employer in one of Brandon’s priority occupations;
  • Have relevant work experience or qualify under the international graduate exemption;
  • Meet minimum language requirements;
  • Meet educational credential requirements; and
  • Show proof of sufficient settlement funds for themselves and any dependents.

Applicants who meet all the criteria may receive a certificate of recommendation from the City of Brandon. This certificate allows them to apply to the federal government for permanent residency. While their PR application is being processed, they may also be eligible for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)-exempt work permit.
