On July 25, 2025, Alberta held a new draw under the Alberta
Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), inviting candidates who can help fill key
labour shortages in the province—especially in the construction industry.
Focus on Construction Workers
This draw was part of the Alberta Express Entry Stream –
Priority Sectors category, which targets specific sectors that are important to
the province’s economy. In this round, 39 candidates with active Express Entry
profiles received Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for a provincial nomination.
Here are the details of the draw:

To be eligible, candidates needed to have their primary occupation listed under
an eligible construction-related role in their Express Entry profile. Those

For a complete list of eligible construction occupations,

Across all streams, Alberta has a total of 4,875 nomination spots for 2025. As
of August 1, 2025, the province has used 3,134 of them, leaving 1,741 spaces
for the rest of the year.
What Happens After You Get a Nomination?
Once a candidate receives a provincial nomination, they can
apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent
residency. This nomination gives them 600 additional points in the Express
Entry system, greatly increasing their chances of receiving an invitation from
IRCC.
