Express Entry Pool Becomes More Competitive Despite Fewer Profiles

feature image

Canada’s Express Entry pool has grown more competitive even as the total number of candidate profiles has dropped. As of October 26, 2025, the pool contained 248,253 profiles, representing a decrease of 2,740 profiles compared to September 28, 2025.

Fewer Candidates, Higher Scores

Although the number of profiles declined overall, there was a noticeable increase in candidates with higher Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores.

  • The 501 to 600 CRS range saw an increase of one thousand four hundred sixty-six profiles.
  • The 601 to 1,200 range grew by eighteen profiles.

These gains indicate that the Express Entry pool is now dominated by candidates with stronger profiles and competitive scores, even as the total number of applicants dropped.

The most significant decline occurred among candidates with scores between 431 and 450, a range that previously represented a large portion of the pool.

Final Takeaway

Even though the total number of candidates in the Express Entry pool has declined, competition is clearly increasing. The sharp rise in candidates with CRS scores above five hundred highlights that the selection process is becoming more challenging. Candidates planning to enter or update their profiles should focus on improving their CRS scores through language tests, educational upgrades, or provincial nominations to stay competitive in upcoming draws.
