Prince Edward Island has issued new invitations to immigration candidates through the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program, also known as the PEI PNP.

On May 21, 2026, PEI conducted its fifth draw of the year and issued 114 invitations to candidates working in in-demand occupations and priority sectors in the province.

This draw continues PEI’s consistent monthly invitation pattern. So far in 2026, the province has held one draw each month and has issued more than 100 invitations in most of its draws.

PEI PNP Draw Details

In the latest draw, the PEI PNP issued a total of 114 invitations to eligible candidates under two pathways:

  1. Labour Impact
  2. PEI Express Entry

These are the only two pathways that PEI has targeted in its draws so far in 2026.

The province focused on candidates who are currently working in Prince Edward Island in priority sectors and occupations that are considered important for the province’s economy.

International Graduates Were Also Prioritized

PEI also prioritized international student graduates from three post-secondary institutions in the province:

  1. University of Prince Edward Island
  2. Holland College
  3. Collège de l’Île

This means that international graduates from these institutions may have stronger chances if they are working in PEI and meet the province’s labour market needs.

PEI Has Used the Same Selection Criteria in 2026

The PEI PNP has used the same selection criteria for all five draws held so far in 2026.

The latest draw also followed PEI’s anticipated invitation schedule. This schedule lists tentative draw dates for the year.

Out of the five draws held so far in 2026, four took place on the exact scheduled date. The only exception was the March draw, which was held on March 20 instead of the originally scheduled date of March 19.

Prince Edward Island is the only Canadian province or territory that publicly releases its annual draw schedule in advance. This gives candidates more transparency and helps them plan their immigration process better.

PEI PNP Draws Held in 2026

So far in 2026, PEI has invited a total of 477 candidates to apply for provincial nomination.

If PEI continues to follow its anticipated schedule, the next draws are expected to take place on:

  1. June 18, 2026
  2. July 16, 2026

However, PEI has clearly stated that these dates are for general information only and are not guaranteed.

How to Be Considered Under the PEI PNP

Candidates who want to immigrate through the PEI PNP must first create an account on the province’s website and submit an Expression of Interest, also known as an EOI.

After the EOI is submitted, PEI’s Office of Immigration reviews the candidate’s profile to determine how likely they are to meet the province’s economic and labour market needs.

Factors Considered Under the PEI EOI System

PEI considers several factors when assessing EOI profiles, including:

  1. Language Ability
    • English or French language skills are considered.
  2. Education
    • PEI may review the candidate’s level of education, field of study, and where the education was completed.
  3. Work Experience and Skill Level
    • The province looks at the candidate’s work experience and the skill level of their occupation.
  4. Strategic Priorities
    • PEI may prioritize candidates who can help address urgent labour market needs in the province.
  5. Employment Prospects
    • Other factors may also be considered, such as having a job offer in PEI or previous Canadian work experience.

What Happens After Submitting an EOI?

After submitting an EOI profile, candidates can log in to the PEI EOI system to check their profile status. Any updates or changes will appear on the candidate’s home screen.

If a candidate receives an invitation, they must submit a complete application for provincial nomination within 30 calendar days.

This is important because PEI has reduced the application submission window from the previous 60 days to 30 days.

After Receiving a Provincial Nomination

Once a candidate receives a provincial nomination from PEI, they can apply to the federal government for permanent residence.

A provincial nomination can be an important step toward Canadian permanent residence, especially for candidates who are already working in PEI and contributing to the province’s labour market.
