Canada's Permanent Residence Fees Are Going Up
Starting April 30, 2024, Canada is raising the fees for
applying for permanent residence (PR). This means if you're planning to stay in
Canada and call it home, you'll need to pay a bit more than before.
Here's What's Changing:
- The
main fee for getting your permanent residence is going up to $575.
- If
you're applying because of your job skills, you and your partner will each
need to pay $950. Kids in your application will cost $260 each.
- Caregivers
and their families will pay $635 for adults and $175 for each child.
- People
coming to Canada to start a business will see their fees go to $1,810 for
the main applicant, with $950 for partners and $260 for kids.
- Families
trying to stay together in Canada will also pay more. For example, the
main person applying will need to pay $545.
Some Good News:
Not everyone has to pay the primary fee. Kids under 22 and
people coming for humanitarian reasons might not have to pay.
What This Means for You:
If you're considering applying for PR, remember it'll cost
more after April 2024. Planning can help you be ready for these fees so you can
start your new life in Canada without any surprises.
